Helium Presents: Black History Monthly

Black History Monthly is a variety show featuring a diverse line-up of stand-up, improv, sketch, poetry, and musical comedy. Hosts Brandon Mitchell, Keane Cobb and Ronald Metellus were tired of being the only person-of-color on comedy shows and resolved to make a show where performers felt as comfortable in the green room as they did on stage. It's an idea that's taken the trio to New Orleans to perform at Hell Yes Fest, lead to a run of well-attended shows back in Philadelphia and was the subject of a lengthy profile in Philly.com. Their first show at Helium, promises to be their strongest yet -- bringing together the best acts from previous shows alongside some Helium-tested newcomers!

Ronald Metellus (“Ziwe,” “Stephen Colbert’s Tooning Out The News,” The Onion), Keane Cobb (ComedySportz), and Brandon Mitchell (SiriusXM) form Black History Monthly to settle their petty arguments in public through a mix of games, crowd work, and incriminating Power Points.

They also feature some of the best new comedians in the city. Stand-up, sketch, music -- the Winter Cookout has a little bit of everything on the plate.

After a run of sold out shows across the city, the Philadelphia Inquirer called us “the new show that's bringing some diversity to Philly's comedy scene.” Come see what the fuss is about!
